The National Research Tomsk State University, founded in 1878 by Alexander II as the Imperial Siberian University, from the first day of its existence, was called upon to affirm the ideals of science, education and culture in the vast territory of the Asian part of the country.
The most important priority of the university is the desire to educate a free and broad-minded creative person, capable of independent scientific and worldview decisions. Remaining faithful to the traditions of predecessors, the university staff is actively developing modern approaches and methods in all areas of activity, strengthening its status in the Russian and international scientific and educational space.
Multilevel education system: the educational process includes pre-university training, mono- and multi-level training of specialists, bachelors, masters, postgraduate education, a wide range of professional retraining and advanced training programs. The university is the coordinator of universities in the Siberian region for the implementation of the Bologna agreements.
38 centers of pre-university training and career guidance in various regions and republics of Siberia and Kazakhstan, where about two thousand people study annually. Targeted training of specialists is carried out under contracts with the administrations of the Tomsk region and the city of Tomsk, the administrations of the regions of Siberia, the governments of the Republics of Altai, Buryatia, Khakassia, Tuva.
